On Sunday, August 29 from noon to 6 p.m. a number of the city’s finest youth mariachis and folklorico dance ensembles will come together in support of The Mariachi Miracle at El Casino Ballroom, 437 E 26th St, Tucson, AZ 85713.

The event will kick off efforts to raise money to finish the film and book in time to get them into 2022 film and book festivals and to ensure the Tucson premiere at the Fox Theatre in downtown Tucson May 1, 2022.

Performing at the event are the following groups:

2:00 – Mariachi Pumas de Roskruge

2:30 Ballet Folklórico Mextucaz

3:00 break (raffles, talk about the event, surprise event)

3:30 Ballet Folklórico La Paloma

4:00 Mariachi Rayos Del Sol de Tucson High

4:30 Ballet Folklórico Tapatio

5:00 Mariachi Los Diablitos de Sunnyside High

5:30 Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High 

Tickets will be $10 at the door. Children under 12 will be admitted free.

The event highlights the progression young mariachi musicians and folklorico dancers make as they advance from elementary school through to high school. You’ll see for yourself the quick strides they make in becoming not just talented young singers, players and dancers but in their self-confidence, community involvement and more.

After a year of being nearly shut down during the pandemic this early school year event will provide a benchmark for how quickly these programs have already and will further rebound in the year ahead. And it will provide desperately needed funds to keep rolling toward next year’s premiere of the film and book.
